While the boat launches and rivers are closed during the race events, there are plenty of opportunities to experience the river before or after the races. Peace River Trail Network

If you love nature and outdoor activities, you should check out the Peace River walking trail. You can enjoy the views of the river valley, the wildlife, and the historic landmarks as you hike, bike, or run on the well-maintained path. You can also access other attractions from the trail, such as the Peace River Water Spray Park and the Curtis Marshall Skatepark. The walking trail is a great way to explore the beauty and diversity of Peace River.

Murphy Flats

This scenic day-use area running along the Smoky River is the perfect spot to enjoy an active day of hiking, fishing, kayaking or canoeing. Note: rivers are closed during the weekend event, so make sure to extend your trip to experience the water for yourself. The river may offer a natural sandy or rocky beach depending on the flow and height of the river water. Pack a picnic so you can stay all day! There are firepits, tables and free firewood available.
