Spencer King from Hay River, North West Territories is easily one of the most influential jet boat racers in the world. He has raced all over the world and is the most winningest drivers in the Jet Boat Racing community.
Jet boat racing all started for Spencer King when his dad Russel King drove through Peace River, Alberta and stayed at the Travelers Motor Inn which is now called the Sawridge. He saw an advertisement for the Great Canadian Smoky River Jet Boat race in 1978. He went home and built his own race boat and started racing in 1980.
Spencer and Russel started racing together in 1990. They have had their share of accidents, wrecked a lot of equipment but managed to keep their original hull that won them 8 World Titles and 7 Overall World Titles. Lucky for Spencer he had a dad that was crazy for boats!
