Becoming a CDN1 Champion consists of amassing the most points throughout an entire Canadian season. Drivers and navigators must work together efficiently to start and finish each race and consistently stay at top speeds, which is exactly what Tim Greber and Sevastien Bedford have accomplished this year.
For the second year in a row, this dynamic duo has raced and navigated the A146 Aquaholic towards another CDN1 Championship title. Winning this sought after award is a goal for many, and Tim feels incredibly grateful to now have two under his belt.
“It feels awesome to repeat winning the CDN1. I’m very happy to have good results like this, especially knowing how difficult it can be to finish all the races,” said Tim.
Many things can contribute to a team winning the CDN1, and for Tim it was a combination of the racing circumstances, attendance, and good old-fashioned luck.
“There were several factors that helped me achieve this title. Having only three races and the unlimited boats not attending all races really built the opportunity for us, and a dose of good luck helped us immensely,” said Tim.
Going into the season, Tim wasn’t thinking about earning another championship title and only wanted to focus on getting through each race consistently.
“I don’t usually enter the season with the goal of CDN 1, 2 or 3. I just want to have clean races with no foul ups, engine problems or penalties,” said Tim.
With the 2022 and 2023 CDN1 Championships to his name now, Tim has some solid advice for those wanting to achieve a similar feat.
“My only advice to other teams who want to earn the CDN1 title is to show up, race safe, and put yourself into a position to succeed,” said Tim.
It often takes a village to have a successful racing season and Tim has many supporters to thank for helping him reach this achievement once again.
“First, I would like to thank Paula. Her understanding and support make it possible for me to attend and compete. I’d also like to thank our sponsors, both past and present. It takes an enormous amount of capital to make it happen,” said Tim. “I would also like to thank my navigators, both past and current. We would not get there without them. Ken, Jay, Brad and Sev, thanks for the hours of time and effort to get us to this position. Also, I would like to thank the chase drivers and crew of helpers, Terry, Jonathan, Brad, and Byron.”
On top of all the people who have helped him throughout his racing career, Tim feels it’s also important to acknowledge those who put the races on and race alongside him each year.
“I would like to thank the organizers and fellow racers – your dedication to this sport keeps me returning year after year,” said Tim.
