BC Peace Country River Rats
The BC Peace Country River Rats is a dynamic, community-driven non-profit organization, spearheaded by devoted local
residents who are deeply committed to fostering inclusivity and engagement in activities close to their hearts. At the forefront of their initiatives is the Family Fun Poker Run, a beloved event that extends an open invitation to all, inviting participants to spend leisurely days cruising down the river while providing a plethora of entertaining games and delectable treats for children. Complementing this staple event is the prestigious Taylor Flats 200 Jet Boat races, a thrilling spectacle that the organization has proudly hosted for the past decade, having garnered the privilege of hosting the World Championships on two occasions.
Generous contributions from donors, tireless volunteer efforts, and the proceeds generated from these events collectively empower the organization to make meaningful contributions to its community. Notably, their endeavors have facilitated the construction and donation of a playground at Peace Island Park in Taylor. Additionally, the club has played a pivotal role in the construction of the Pavilion at Peace Island Park.
The organization preserves and maintains the pristine beauty of the Peace and Pine rivers by helping keep them clean. They also maintain the communal spaces, along the river with amenities such as fire pits, picnic tables, and outhouses, stand as accessible sanctuaries for all to enjoy.
